Godspeed big front brake kit -drill and tap mount bolts
Hi all. I recently purchased the front 335 mm upgrade kit with the 2 piece discs for the subaru wrx 4 pots second hand. Sat it in the garage for a while until i had chance to start cleaning the bits up ready to fit. Ive noticed the bolts that mount the brackets to the hubs are bigger then standard. Is this the same on all kits or has this kit ive bought been modded/bodged at some point? If it is meant to have larger bolts can anyone tell me why? Cos once drilled and tapped obviously its not just a simple bolt on job to return to standard at a later date if any problems may occur i.e parts avaliabilty or should i want to remove before selling the car. Anyway with that said if that is how they are meant to be, does anyone know the drill and tap size and wether they would recommend doing it on the car whilst the hub is still fitted with hand drill and hand tap or wether this is a strip and machine shop job. I was kinda hoping this kit was literally just nuts and bolts and no messing around... Oh well tia, aaron.

Hi
You don't need to drill out the hub flanges , just run an M14x2mm tap through the hole , use the M14mm socket cap bolts supplied with the kit , there isn't enough room to fit a nut and bolt in to mount the brackets.
Even though you have an M14mm thread in the hub , the hole is still 12mm so no problem going back to standard brakes at a later date
Cheers Ian

In the process of refurbing one of these kits myself, just need new pistons and seals now but have been busy with other stuff, here's my thread if it helps:
