Default Boot Lid Hinge Brackets Split

I have an '07 Hawk STI Type UK (high level spoiler) and the boot lid is not rising when the release lever is pulled.
I have had the torsion bar replaced and this made it worse - from rising very slightly to not rising at all. It appears that the brackets welded to the bodywork are actually cracked and bent and replacing the bar only served to push them back further.
I just wondered if anyone had a fix as the dealer is talking about wedging something behind each bracket?

Thats exactly what I did on my bugeye. Wedged two wee blocks of wood behind the hinges.

I messaged my bro (he owned the bugeye before me) he bought a hinge bracket (the bit where yours is splitting) from a scrapyard. Then put blocks behind to prevent it happening again. Maybe worth messaging some of the breakers on here for a fresh set
