Ok, I need to get a replacement rack It also seems that Subaru don't make new ones anymore for the classics

I've read various things about compatibility across the various model years. I was talking to Len from Subaru 4 You and he said they vary according to where the lines attach.

Would anyone know whether a V5-6 Sti rack would be a straight swap for a UK MY00? If I have to change rack I may as well upgrade to a quicker one.

Its a straight fit, you would not need to mod anything

Yep, thanks Banny it was a straight fit.

The rack is no 'quicker' than the UK one though, still 2.75 turns.

The standard sti rack is the same, the type r has a fast rack of 2.5 turns and the type ra has the quick rack of 2.25 turns

Bought a couple of option RA racks recently. Get the best you can afford it makes the car.
