Default Cambelt change on Classic Impreza 2000

Hey, first post on here so i am sorry if this is in the wrong place.

I have a classice Impreza turbo 2000 which has just hit 62K and is 16 years old (this was in storage for 6 years hence the low milage) so it is time for a cambelt change.

I have been quoted £436 + VAT for full kit and fitting, which seems a bit much, but i guess living in London maybe this is what i should expect.

A couple of things then is;

Can you please suggest a garage or two in or around East London that i can get quotes from?

Do you think i could let my local garage do the cambelt change? I have used them for 9 years and they mostly work on Rovers, MGs, BMWs and VWs.

Also would i be ok to let this garage do my servicing or should this really be done at a Subaru specialist?

Thanks in advance

Seems a high price!

I would only recommend a Subaru specialist.

Give Richard at East Kent Subaru a call - depending on how far you are willing to travel.

Hope this helps!

This is quite far from me but i would be willing to travel if the cost is noticeably less. No harm in getting a quote

Thank you!

Are the non genuine cambelt kits for these cars any good? There is one on Scoobyworld for £299.99 (genuine) but i am seeing some around for about £180, Gates i believe i was looking at.

Just spoke to Richard who was very helpful and has quoted me £100 less than the last garage, which i am much happier with. Waiting for one more quote but fairly sure ill drop it down to him.

Thank you so much!
