Default Woes

What would cause a 97 V4 sti type R to have a slight hesitation at low revs on light throttle, and what seems to me like a bit too much lag. Considering its on VF24. Running a good tune for UK fuel from a well respected mapper (was fine after being done so nothing to do with map I expect). Still hitting peak boost but seems a bit lazy before that. Will have it looked at by a pro but itching to get some ideas.

Cheers.

Could be a number of things,bcs,maf,plugs,coil.....etc....
What software has your ECU been mapped on? Full mods or is it standard?

ESL with turbo back/supporting bits. A bit hesitant on low revs and light throttle but smooth on boost and not using any more fuel than normal. Since getting set up, I've cleaned the air filter which was a bit dirty, and straightened bent intercooler fins. I know this would probably mean a bit more air but it'd hardly make that much difference especially as its flawless on boost?

How long ago was it mapped?
Do you have the cable to plug in and do some data logs?
Are you running Mafless setup?

ESL retains the oem diagnostics so if you don't have a lead then you can still read for any fault codes and reset the ECU the old way.

I would look at cleaning bcs, iacv, maf(if not mafless)
When was is last service, what plug you running and how old are they?

Within the last 1000 miles or so. I don't have a cable and to be honest don't know much about that end of things? Not running a mafless setup, I've recently realised I probably could have got it mapped without, but wasn't aware at the time. Orange label mafs ain't cheap to replace.

Whats bcs? Boost control? I've had the iacv off, looks pretty clean and gasket looks good.. Also had the maf off and it looks quite clean so I didn't touch the element. Its running heat range 7 plugs.

What I should say at this point is the car does (only the odd time) hunt the idle speed from around normal to almost stalling, and isn't smooth on boost. I didn't think the two problems would be linked as theres different symtoms. This only happens occasionally, but the problem outlined in first post is constant.
