Default Fuel pumps, do they need replacing?

Hi all,

Brought on by the GB from Scoobyworx Do uprated fuel pumps have a maximum working life?

Mine a believe is a Walboro one as i have PPP, the car is now 10 years old and I am wondering whether it is getting tired or not?

Added to the age argument, the car stutters from cold sometimes.

All fuel pumps will fail eventually, it's just an electric motor after all.

What generally happens is as they age and become worn, the flow rate diminishes. So though it may still be working, it will no longer be supplying fuel at the optimum rate. This can obviously have issues, especially if you car has been remapped and fuel demand increased.

Considering the price and ease of fitment, I'd definitely consider renewing after 10 years, if not before.
