CEL P0607 - Limp Mode - Intermittent
Hi all,
I've been getting this issue for about a year now, but it's probably only happened 4/5 times in that year. I've done 12 hour trips in 1 day and no problem, but sometimes it kicks in after 60 minutes! I just can't fathom it out.
Symptoms are no power, instant limp mode, relays clicking all over the dashboard and clearing the codes doesn't fix it. Couple of days later, she'll be fine. Really, really odd.
I've recorded a video (whilst on the hard shoulder bored) of the relays popping whilst idling.
After doing some googling, i'm thinking i should replace the ECU. But i don't want to replace the ECU for the problem to return.
Any thoughts from any of the guru's here?
Cheers

Thanks for that, i meant to link to that in my post!
I am going to replace the Throttle Pedal, i also have a throttle body lying around which i could also replace. Just wondering has anyone else had similar instances?
Seems really strange for the throttle pedal to be causing so much trouble!

OK So now the ECU has been replaced by East Kent Subaru's and Duncan has put a tune on.
Same problem on my journey home.
So far, ECU, Throttle Pedal, Throttle Body all been replaced.
Has to be some dodgy electrics somewhere, right?!

I'm still digging on this. I plugged in the Tactrix and logged the voltages going to the Accelerator and Throttle, interesting results.
When it's behaving, they look fine.
When it isn't (P0607), you can see there is no change to voltage on the Throttle (main & sub) sensors.
Now, at the same time i also logged the voltage that the ECU (I'm assuming?) is seeing from the battery. And it's over 12 voltage, much higher up at 13/14/15/16 and varies between them all with the engine off! So not the alternator doing it's thing.
I notice when the voltage is high (Battery is fine and healthy, brand new, 12.6v with no load using multimeter), that the main throttle relay doesn't click when i put the key in the ignition. But when the voltage is down around ~12.6 it's perfectly fine. This is so weird.
Any ideas guys? What's next for me to trace through?
