I'm not after massive power 340 tops, wanted to keep it fairly standard looking so want to stay with the top mount. Mines a but tatty so was going to get a new upgrade. I've looked at a few American sites but they seem pricey or could I get one off a newer model or are they no better? What would you suggest?

I had a standard top mount running 346bhp on my old p1....
My engine with standard top mount is running 341bhp so if in OK condition they work ok.
Heat soak is an issue with any top mount! The main issue is how much they can cool the charged air and obviously the new age intercooler will be better but for you power range the standard one will be fine.
I looked into a newage top mount but it wasn't worth it in the end. Try filling with brake fluid once a new age cooler is fitted. Lol

Unfortunately if you're sticking with a top mount heat soak is inevitable if you're driving it hard for long periods/no flow over the intercooler. A larger top mount intercooler wouldn't prevent this but would be required for higher bhp outputs.
The standard top mount is pretty poor, 3 good pulls and you will see charge temps go beyond 70c. The tmic was thoroughly tested by the late Harvey and these were his findings.
I would move on to a newage sti if you want to stay tmic but bare in mind you will need to mod the undertray and a bigger scoop is preferable to make use of the increased surface area.
It would be easier to go onto a fmic but I understand this is not an option for everyone but would save you quite a bit of hassle

Not at all . ..I've stuck with tmic and gone with a Grimmspeed tmic and undertray from the US . .enginetuner has had good results . ..450+ with that unit . .

No probs I haven't had mine fitted yet but hoping for similar results
To help with under bonnet temps I've had exhaust housing, heatsheild and downpipe ceramic coated

Plan is to drop in my forged 2.1 stroker lump with an SC46 and see what she can put out safely
Have you been given any indication of expected power with new shiney bits fitted?

Just drove her back, so much smoother, can drive it slowly without it guddering now. Boost comes in hard about 4k, I asked for the boost to stay where it was. Antilag been set up much better too pops and bangs like a bitch and just wants to go so all in all very pleased!
Didn't want massive power just wanted it set up safely and right, my guess is around 320bhp but were going to take it to a rolling road when we get chance only out of interest

Bits have accumulated and then been fitted . . then I've changed my mind on a few things . .initially i looked at a PWR air to water charge cooler instead of a fmic but decided against it and went with Grimmspeed after reading about Enginetuners success with it . .anyway spec of build so far:

Id say youd hit 450 fairly easy with that based on stuff ive read and people ive spoke to. It sounds like a nice set up! Did the crack pulley make much difference? I was looking at getting one.

Crank pulley is well made and over 1.5kg lighter than OEM . .it should help with rotational mass . . .every little helps
