I had the same with the Panasonic which was fitted when I got my import, I tried to change some settings but with no luck and when searching on the net I found that there's no English in the menu and the only way to change the language is to install new software so I gave up, hopefully you'll have more luck with yours

I assume you've been on the Kenwood UK website? http://www.kenwood-electronics.co.uk/ Might be manuals there. http://www.kenwood-electronics.co.uk/car/info/support/

Or e-mailed them? Asked for technical help? enquiries@uk.jvckenwood.com

If you have a Japanese manufactured headunit it's likely specific only to Japan. I had a Pioneer 2-din deck for my SG5 and it didn't have any other language options.

I now live in Canada and recently installed a Kenwood 2-din deck. 3/4 of my music library is Japanese, but there is no Japanese language setting so most of my playlist is just a bunch of lines on the screen. It's very frustrating. There is a Japanese version of the same unit available in Japan which I assume only has Japanese functionality.

Japan likes to keep their products on a short leash so you'll likely not find an easier solution than replacing it and selling the original back to Japan on the auction sites like goo-parts or yahoo auction
