The newage block

v3 sti heads

all your ancilliaries

I cant remember exactly but I think you will need 1.1mm heads gaskets to get the correct comp ratio

Then bolt all together can either use standard headbolts (buy new) or aftermarket headstuds

That is pretty much it

Cheers Banny,

Its a v3 Type R and standard... Would it require a remap?

Is there anything else worth changing/uprating whilst the engines apart?

Yep I would defo remap it as the combo will throw the map out to some extent, depends how far you're going with the car and what the intended use is?

One thing I would potentially consider on the head side is to uprate the valves to single piece items for peace of mind

Well the bottom end has started knocking, so decided to put a bit of money into her, change/rebuild the engine and up the power... Hopefully to around 380-400bhp, so a remap was always on the cards.

Just trying to decide on exact route i'm going to take as the gearbox will also need changing at some point no doubt.

For that power level you should be fine with the standard valves but if shes a keeper id do them just for peace of mind. Of course over 350bhp the gearbox is on borrowed time, good luck with the build as it is a really good setup and at 400bhp right in its sweet spot of reliability

Banny - Should I be considering a new oil and water pump in my plans, or should they be good?

I'd replace the oil pump if your bearings have gone.

I would defo replace them on a fresh build, cover as many bases as you can whilst building to give you that extra peace of mind
