Default Removal of BOV

Hi,

I have just bought a stage 1 tuned WRX hawkeye which I'm very pleased with and plan on doing lots of work on (mid life crisis according to her indoors).

I really don't like the noise from the forge BOV and was wondering if I can put it back to standard myself?

If so, what would I need to buy and will it affect the tune setup as car has been mapped like this with a turbo back exhaust etc.

Thanks in advance.

there's no mapping for a bov unless it's been converted to a mafless setup - even then removing it won't make a difference to the map. You'd need a standard box and you might need a recirc pipe if yours has been removed. Look underneath the bov for a large rubber pipe with a big shiney blanking plug in it. The idea would be to remove the plug, stuff the standard recirc valve into it and then bolt it on to the intercooler.

Just out of interest what noise does a forge BOV make? I've just bought a standard recirculating dv as mine came with a Bailey dv, so will be fitting that next week, not sure what will change sound wise, guessing more of a flutter as air passes back through the turbo.

You just need to disco the pipe holding the BOV at the bottom...buy a new gasket too...remove the two bolts holding the BOV to the intercooler and replace it with the standard one. Simple. Make sure you torque it to the intercooler nice as you don't want any nasty sounding leaks.

Check Import Car Parts for a gasket.

Forge makes quite a loud gushing / blow sound. Quite old school imo
