Crankshaft question for the engine builders amonst us
When I recently stripped a EJ205 engine that had suffered from detonation on #4 piston I found the pictured crank along with steel rods (Eclipse), the crank has been x drilled through the mains and big ends but not nitrided, question is what is the crank from and what power is it up to?

All new age 2.0 STI engines have cross drilled cranks, the JDM are nitrided as well. As Alyn said, the cranks will not be the weakest part of the engine at that level. Get it measured up, as a general rule you can run up to .001" undersize, as long as it's uniform wear and not oval. Use an 11mm oil pump, don't be fooled into thinking 12mm is better, they can jam the relief valve open, as they are meant for the quad avcs engines.
