phew what do you mean look like a rally car, sound like a rally car, handle like a rally car or perform like a rally car?
tarmac or gravel spec?
they are made as light as possible for a start. so i suppose you should chuck out all the sound proofing, carpets and dont forget the rear seats!!
get the shell seam welded, bolt in roll cage, drummond 50mm suspension, paddle type clutch (all or nothing) rip out the air conditioning and the old fuel tank put in a bag tank, rip out the entire wiring loom and replace with competition type breakers and fire switch.
tune it up so it ticks over at about 4000rpm and it does about 10 miles to the gallon, shot in a gems ecu and alk and bobs your uncle about 10k i think, probably cheaper if you do it yourself
............or i suppose you could put on some red mudflaps and loads of decals for about 200 quid

well it has to be the straight through exhaust then..
i posted a thread yesterday asking if anyone has a "actual rally" exhaust fitted, only rally col answered-- because he has a rally car!!
have a look for powerflow exhausts, or prodrive exhaust systems. I must admit I only like the "real rally" sound but have only heard it on rally machinery not street cars.
I dont know much about performance at all - but I believe the goal with rally cars is torque not absolute power, the drivers want a car that can "pull" in all conditions.

okay the flames yes i know everyone wants them..
now if you mean like the rally cars BANG BANG explosion of gas and flames from tailpipe forget about it.
thats resultant from Anti Lag System big no no for a street car see previous thread about 5 days ago.
But if you mean like a backfire type bang and and flames I really honestly dont know?? lets post something in general!! I have never seen a scoob spiting fire out of the back but those bloody cossies do it. even worse i own a Golf GTI 1989 and found out that cars up to 1988 can do it. Something to do with a rich mixture and letting oxygen back up the pipe??

I didn't think rally cars had dump valves. I think that lovely chattering sound comes from the wastegate. I'd love to get my car making that noise but don't know how you'd go about doing that safely! I think it's big boost!

I seem to remember a thread about this a few months ago.
I believe the chattering sound you hear from the rally cars is the pressure from the turbo being released through the wastegate as rally cars don't have DV's.
I remember a chp on here with a Baileys atmos DV that he'd partially closed the gap in the dv and he could hear the chattering sound.
As to how healthy this is for the engine I do not know.

Matt, I was talking to a Subaru Mechanic for Subaru works team, he told me that the noise wasn't the waste gate making the noise.
The noise is from the impella blades, a lot louder version of the typical turbo whistle.
What happens, for a split second when the foot is taken off the gas the turbo starts to slow down, then the anti-lag accelerates the turbines, because you are off the gas the turbines are spinning faster that the airflow, causing the chattering sound until the airflow catches up.
Anyway very hard to explain but I tried my best.

boys,
full Scooby Sport de-cat turbo back system. HKS Super sequential BOV (dump valve), ITG and ECUTEK remap.
All the above has resulted in a fair bit of flame spitting and crackle, pop, bang on up change , over run and feathering the throttle.
good luck
