Default water temperture gauge

I about to fit a water temperture gauge and was asking my zelf what's the best position to fit the sensor.
I thought my self I could do it in the radiator hose but does any one no what the diameter is of the hose for a sti type-r v6.
For if I want to buy a adapter for the temperature sensor.

I seem to remember when I did mine it was 38mm i/d?

Do you have a digital caliper? If so, measure the external diameter in the centre, then the wall thickness at the end, and subtract twice the wall thickness.

Mine was a 98 UK car, but afaik, the hoses and rads are the same.

Tip: use a new hose. Manipulating the old one will probably cause it to crack internally, and spring a leak a week or so after you've done the job. How do I know this???

Tip 2: Make sure your adaptor has provision for running an earth wire, the senders have only one wire, and earth through the engine block.

Tip 3: Better to put the new, accurate sender where the old one is, extend the old one and put it in the top hose

How did you fit the sensor with some Teflon tape.

You shouldn't need Teflon, the sensors are a taper thread, so self sealing...and don't overtighten. I suppose a couple of wraps of Teflon won't hurt, but too much and it won't earth.....as I said, it earths through the body.
