Default Sigma alarm issue

Can some one please help me .... My car has been stuck on my drive for about 8 weeks now as the sigma fob got wet and won't work I have no idea what the pin is (didn't even know it hand the keypad for ages). I contacted my local subaru garage several times only to leave a message and nobody call me back . I called in eventualy and seemed to get somewhere but he never called me back so I went again. The second visit I was asked for a pic of the alarm unit from behind the dash so I sent this to them then booked an appointment for them to come out but they canceled last minuet. So today I rush back from London 145 miles away from home to wait for them and again and they cancel. It's safe to say I'm distraught I have no idea what to do. My car is a 03 impreza sti and any info would be appreciated.

Can you not dry the remote out (silica gel, uncooked rice etc) replace the battery and see if it works ??

Forget Subaru get your local alarm installer onto the problem, even if they just install a new alarm for you.

I assume you have checked all round the dash in case the pin sticker is stuck on somewhere as some dealers do.

Yea a put it with a sachet of silica gel and it sat there for over a week, it wasn't even like they got submerged in water just rained in. Both the sigma fob and key button are dead.

Well I haven't seen a sticker, any idea what it would look like? (I'm guessing 4 digits on a sticker). Well the thing is I'm trying other people but nobody wants to touch it, I called a local auto electrician and he can't do it and then this morning I called Automotive Electronics who's website looks promising (even a blobeye on there website) however they couldn't help me I haven't got another dealer local to ask and I'm getting desperate.

Is it not possible to use another unit and matching fob off another car?

You need a working remote or the pin. Otherwise you can't do anything.

I would get a new install with the old one ripped out. Any professional installer can do that.

However, Subaru should have a record of the pin unless someone changed it. You need to show them your logbook to get it.

But could I just get another sigma new or second hand as apposed to getting a different brand all wired in?

should work you would need the control box fob and codes plug n play with all your wiring sensors etc, just a question have you tried to start it with the drivers door open as mine will start sometimes without pressing the fob so long as the drivers door is open

No, if I had the four digit pin code then maybe I could program a new fob but with out a code or working fob it seems impossible.

Well the fob always locks/unlocks the car but it isn't working. The door has never been a issue before whether it's closed or open. I hope it's a simple as getting a replacement.

Cheers.

Well I haven't seen it but I belive there is but I think k this is a separate thing to the sigma system, before if I locked the car with the sigma fob then unlocked it with the button on the key it wouldn't start with out me pressing the sigma fob button. Im sure there is a chop in the key because I wanted to use the shiny STI key but that key has no chip (so I'm told).

I can't say to be honest and I'm not in it to say. When I get in the car there is a flashing key ontthe dash then this goes when the key is inserted which leads me to belive that there is a chip in the key. Like I said though the immobiliser is a separate thing.

Yes the immobiliser is a seperate thing but i think that it is the immobiliser that is stopping the car from starting unless it is some wiring maybe that has been disturbed so to prove the immobiliser is working you need to hear the fuel pump running when you turn the ignition on.

Yea but the fob got wet now won't unlock or lock the car.... Does nothing not even the led flashes. I haven't touched that much especially anything that would stop it turning over.

So have you checked if the fuel pump can be heard running when you switch the ignition on.

So I got my second hand unit today with a matching fob, pluggeged it all in and done ... Happy days. So finally after what feels like an eternity of having it off the road while I get some jobs done and then having it sit there all ready to go with this fault for ages it's sorted. Cheers for the bits of input .

Well I think the whole problem was with the old fobs and the fact they where broken but I shall look into getting spares as I don't want to be in this situation again

if the battery connections are in good order they tend to be pretty bullet proof,
Dont forget to sort the PIN code.

Easy enough to change your PIN code for the keypad once you can arm/disarm the alarm system :

Arm and then Disarm the system using a working Radio Key.

- Within 30 seconds of disarming, type into the keypad: *17856*92*wxyz*wxyz# (where wxyz is your new PIN code)

- Arm the system with the Radio Key

- You should now be able to disarm the system using the new PIN code
