Default Boot release

Dear all, I've got an 03 sti and I'm having a few issues with the internal boot release. I have searched the forum but have not found the same issue.

The cable is attached to the lever by the driver's seat and when you pull it the actual cable moves not just the cover as was the issue in some other thresds. At the boot end I can see the end of the cable but when pulled it doesnt pull the release assembly back far enough to open the boot. Seems like it is slack or not attached properly. Does anyone have a picture of the lower part of the lock that shows how the cable sits when it works properly?

key works fine so it's not a big deal, just annoying it doesn't work.

Many thanks in advance

Not knocked the little lever on the side of the boot release, have you? It prevents it being opened from the inside. It's on the boot lid.

LOL, wish I had a quid for every time I've seen it asked.

Thanks guys but as I said, I did do a search first and 99% of the time that's it. Sadly not in my case.

Anyone got a pic?

OK, next idea: If it's moving the inner wire, find where the OUTER wire is clamped at the catch end, not at the pull end, undo the clamp and slide the outer backwards a bit, so as to tighten the inner wire. Re-clamp and retry.

Thanks for getting back to me. Do I need to take the plastic boot lining off? I'll have a look when it's light

Probably, to see where the end of the cable outer is clamped. Unless there's an adjuster, like on cycle brakes? but I doubt that.
