Default Hatch Engine Question

Hi There.
I'm interested in buying an Impreza Hatch c2010.....
I've read about the problems of the Sti engine so I'm looking at the WRX in order to stay safe.
I've come across a WRS 'S' version.
My question is; are these models based on an uprated WRX's or, based on the more fragile Sti's ?
Thanks

WRX S is a Prodrive limited run based on the WRX 2.5 Hatch, still retains the 2.5 engine but not as troublesome as its STI sister car.

Thanks.
Sounds like a safer bet then!

Found a nice low mileage, 1 owner Hatch WRX.
Drove well.....rather different to my 03 Wagon on BC's !

Going to test drive a Seat Cupra tomorrow...which is the alternative motor.

PX-ing our SMax TDi....so either should be more fun!

Sorted.....the Hatch wins!
The Cupra was noisy & not as composed on the road.
Now become a 2 Scoob family!
