Default Differences between ej20 and ej25

Original thread with a bit of background is here:https://www.scoobynet.com/scoobynet-...go-for-it.html

So basically im researching engines and so far ive read that an ej20 is open and an ej25 is semi-open which would mean that ej25 would handle turbo better would it not but this thread : http://www.rs25.com/forums/f7/t50666...questions.html.

im gathering that there is lots of variation between ej20 such as ej20g and ej20k how can i tell which car has which block(?).

TL;DR
Which engine is better to rebuild? (cant get insured untill 21)

just watched all 10 of these clips on a ej25 rebuild:
(hasnt put me off yet )
These where a little unexpected:
(getting the right amount of that blue palsticy stuff on the repaired rod)
(measuring the gap between the piston and the piston block wall)
(reassembly with all the torque levels and angles)

merry xmas peeps :P

And again, you will never insure a subaru with an engine swap.

Ej20 will last a decent while and if modded correctly produce good power, ej25 is as weak as snack van tea and tends to go pop if you look at it the wrong way.

Ej257 if done right lasts well, gives bags of torque and makes for a very good road car engine

Why not just buy an old wrx, they are cheap now as most have been ruined.
Much less hassle
