Default clunking from the rear

Dear all,

I've got an 03 JDM STI, 100,000 on the clock. It's always been a very firm ride and has deteriorated as the silly zero sport coilovers have gotten worse. Recently there has been some clunking noise and a physical clunk when moving at slow speed. It's there when in gear or in neutral (slowly rolling) and the car feels like its driving over a rough surface even when the road is pretty good. There is also a slight incline where I park and as I pull onto that to get on the road the rear drivers side wheel spins/loses traction but then all fine once on the flat.

I know it could be a number of things but I'd love some advice on how to check certain components. I'll be getting rid of the coilovers and replacing them (meister R maybe?) but I need to see if there is anything else wrong that might need attention first. Booked into a garage next week but is driving me mad and I want to see if I can at least identify it.

Many thanks in advance.

Spoke with a nice chap at demon tweeks and the Bilstein coilovers he suggested (I assume the B14) come in at 900. Ouch. They've got the name to go with them, assured quality but it might be a case of what the wallet can bear. Cheaper anywhere else?

Thanks

Thanks for the feedback guys. One good thing is the positive reviews of the teins.

No reasons for knocking etc?

Having had a look around and speaking with rich at fb tuning I'm looking at a set of the tein flex coilovers. Found them for 750 cheapest so far. Anyone know anywhere cheaper?

Chevron motorsport do a redesigned custom b14 kit, has softer damper rates and more bump travel.
