wrx to sti heads
Recently I bought some parts from a bloke of here and we got talking as the next thing I'm looking at doing is changing my wrx heads for sti ones. He told me there is no need to buy sti heads just change the cams, buckets and shims for sti ones, as that's the only difference. This would be great as would save me replacing my cosworth head gasket and save me a few penny's. Is this correct, I'm not convinced, but he did say he was a subaru mechanic of many years. Can anyone clarify this either way. Cheers

What year/version car is it you have ?
The bare head castings are generally the same but the valve train differs.
You would have to change the top spring cap for starters as the WRX Outer shim cap is different to the STi Under bucket cap - heads would have to come off to do this.
Inlet and Exhaust valve code's are different between the WRX and STi too.
