Nitrided replacement crankshaft
Doing a rebuild on my ej205 soon, want to build a strong engine not so concerned with high power figures and have been told that my car being at almost 90k miles I should replace the crankshaft with an OEM genuine one even if there's nothing wrong with mine to go along with forged pistons and rods (don't want to get caught up in a stroker build though!). I've search the forums and see allot of people recommend this too and also NOT to get the shaft reground. I have seen nitrided ones such as this on eBay;

Is that even a legitamate part? RCM sell an OEM crankshaft for an ej20 for 700 that isnt nitrided! With the supporting mods I'll be adding on the rebuild the car will be running in the region of 300bhp, is it worth getting a nitrided one if possible? Or even replace it atall?
Thanks!
Matt

Nitrided cranks and heat treated cranks are as good as each other.
Rcm sell them at that price because they think they can add ££££ to everything they sell and folk pay it lol just get a new one from icp they are genuine subaru cranks and a decent price.
Yeh what ever you do dont even think of grinding a subau crank.
