Thumbs up

Hello. I'm planning on upgrading my turbo after my 550 cc injectors and MRT TMIC w/waterspray kit goes into my car. I'm thinking of doing a compressor wheel upgrade to an 18G, and was wondering if others can share their experiences with this particular turbo. I'm looking for it to get me from my current 315 bhp (235 kW) to ~375 bhp (280 kW), without running more boost than I am currently. The 18G upgrade is only US$429 from a very reputable turbo shop, so it seems like a great value. Also, if I ever do a stroker kit or even just forged pistons, this turbo should be capable of keeping up with as much as 425 hp (317 kW), so I doubt I'll ever have to upgrade it again.

How will the 18G affect turbo lag? Right now, I have full boost by 3300 RPM. I suspect the 18G will give me full boost by 3700-3800 RPM. Lag is not as important as a potent hit by 4000 RPM...I want to feel like I get rear ended by a mack truck when the turbo hits!

My other mods include 3" turbo back, Apexi Power FC and AVC-R, Supra TT fuel pump, a bunch of gauges, etc. See http://www.subarureview.com/bio.php?name=annointed for a complete listing of mods.

Thanks for the site, Danny. I looked through it and didn't see any references to the topic I posted, although there is other great info there.

I'll be interested to find out how this runs

Have you considered the front entry mod to the TD05 ? I have done this and also fitted a scoobysport uppipe at the same time. I now have 20+ psi from as low as 2500 RPM !!!!

Would the front compressor housing off an evo fit this turbocharger, as I think it is the exact same unit? This would save butchering the subaru elbowed bit, and leave a straight mouth for the airfilter pipe.

The front entry mod sounds interesting, can I get details of it from somewhere on here ? Also, which makes the most difference on it's own, the mod or the up-pipe ?

Thanks

Ken
