Up pipe; difference between 2 bolt and 3 bolt
Hi. As per title, which bolt up pipe is for which series of Impreza ?
I have just obtained a two bolt sti one for my 05 wagon, but it looks pretty crude in side, and has a loose heat shield. Would I be better off with one of the RCM ones that are for sale in the members section, as they must flow better ? Harvey`s trick pipe is out of my budget. Thanks

the difference between the two is the 3bolt one wont fit your car, the sti up-pipe is probably perfectly adequate for your spec, if the heat shield is problem get it welded or remove it and get it wrapped.

Hi there
2 bolt up pipe is for stock headers or some aftermarket headers(I think earlier GT Spec and Kakumei has been 2 bolt),3 bolt Up pipe is for aftermarket headers such as GT Spec,Kakumei or RCM and several others
2bolt up pipe will not fit 3bolt headers and vice versa and which is best, really depends, stock Up pipe I think should be OK up to 400bhp and beyond and Harvey Up pipe should be best upgrade like in 3 or 2 bolt option
STI Up pipe is great upgrade for WRX as WRX does have cat in Up pipe, which can cause restriction and if you will go with above mentioned 3 bolt RCM up pipe then you will need 3 bolt headers and really I would stay away from cheap ebay headers,I would only consider GT Spec,Kakumei or RCM,due this I would stick with stock headers(maybe upgrade to STI ones) and use stock 2 bolt Up pipe from classic or STI
Hope this helps
Thanks,Jura

If you have a look at these headers,
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Subaru-Imp...item51d5e682b6
I can supply an up-pipe on its own if you need one, they are 2 bolt and will fit the std headers etc. £88.00 delivered
Drop me an email if you are interested.

Thanks for the replies; I am interested in Pabens second hand trick pipe, but will it be suitable for a td04 hybrid when it previously ran over 400hp ? Were they made different diameters for levels of power ?
Jura, your replies are always informative and helpful, (and you are a wagon man,) so therefor what this forum is about. Did you break it, and what project do you have now?
Alyn, great advice on brake pads, always got time for questions on the phone; brakes sorted as a result, clunk on reverse a bit, but good bite, even when cold.
Thanks, all.
