Default 2002 wrx heads

hi guys after some proffessional advice on whats the max hp i can run using newage wrx heads im looking to run the car around 420-450bhp if these can not flow enough would adding uprated cams get me where i need to be and any recommendations, i know that getting sti6 heads would be an option but i would still have to get them sent of for checking skimming and re seating valves so i was just thinking i could use or modify the heads i already have oh yeah they will be bolted to a jdm sti v7 bottom end.

thanks james

I can't give you pro advice but only relate the experience with my 03 wrx heads.
They will need some work on the gas chambers to help flow and give uniformity to each side, on my standard heads one side was better than the other. If you haven't already the TGV delete helps.
Paul Finch did mine, which went on a forged 2.5 short engine and had extra work to match the bigger cylinder, he also fitted STI valve springs for added reliability.
With a MD321T the car makes 440hp on Vpower, 466hp +20meth and 500hp VPower +nitrous.
The wrx heads shouldn't be a restriction on your STI block

Without better cams you have a bit of a problem anyway, they will drop torque at sort of 5.5k+ due to been unable to flow enough air....

Unsur eon the spring and shim arrangment on the newage ones though, but this could also limit your revs!

All depends on what you class as "fine" id rather have a higher rev limit and not drop my torque, remember, if a job is worth doing its worth doing properly, drop some cams and solid shims in there

Fine as in a smashed it around every track day I could for about 6 years and it never missed a beat and is still going just isn't in a car at the mo lol ,, 2.1 Stroker and I used to rev the nuts off it , Rev limit set at 7k I think as never really worried just changed when it hit it lol, that engine was built on a budget so dropping stuff in that wasn't NEEDED wasn't really a option at the time as it was built due to a failed engine but I do agree with you that if you can afford to then it would improve things but some times it's just not a option

really depends on piston spec, etc. but most copmmon on new-age spec would be 0.78mm and we carry all options on the shelf

How much for a pair?

I was gonna go for 0.6mm

But if you recommend 0.8 then that will do
