Default crankshaft

Hi guys I have a 2002 impreza Wrx and I'm looking to rebuild the engine as it has developed a bottom end knock I would just like to know what crank I would need to buy there are so many options with getting the right thrust bearing end or middle . The engine is not going to be a big build ie massive power but putting in forged pistona and rods as might aswell whilst I'm there thanks James

Yours will definitely be rear thrust bearing as all have been since version 5.
I believe the nitrided crank from an sti, possibly spec c is a worthwhile upgrade as similar price to standard

If your buying a new crank you may aswell get a 2.5 one and stroker it.
Not much difference in price if any.

Pm me if your interested in a new short engine that I no longer need, it has all good new stuff in it and will be less than you can do it for from scratch.

wisco pistons
V9 cross drilled tuftrided crank
ACL race bearings
EJ25 rods with ARP bolts
Ej205 block(which is correct for your year)

IfI use a 2.5 crank and 2.0 pistons and rods does this make it a 2.1
Thanks James

You can use 2.0 pistons but you will need to get the shorter rods to accommodate, but if you're buying new anyway just get the stroker rods and pistons, works out around the same price.
