Default Turbo location.

Ok this may sound like a silly idea,
But it's an idea...

I have been thinking of lifting my turbo from the standard location, I was thinking of lifting it's the intake of the turbo just sticks out of the bonnet. This will obviously mean cutting a hole in the bonnet which isn't a problem. The can in question isn't going to be driven often, more of a show and shine I think with the odd track day, when being driven I would obviously need to put some kind of filter/sock over the intake.
Has this been done before?
What would it involve?
Going onto my forged ej25 into my classic.

I just thought it was a different idea, direct air feed straight into the front of the turbo

Yea I suppose mate.
But what I'm wondering is what work would be involved. Oil/ water feed / return will have to be custom mate along with up/down pipe. Anything else?

Longer line for feeds, also change the pipework routes for the airflow, alot of work for no gain.
