Default up pipe still there???

checked my up pipe last night to find I have what looks like the oem part still there??? mmmmm how come I ask my self? ive had all this work done and that little bugger still there. ok so what do I do now? do I get a harveys trick up pipe? will this give better low down torque? I have no cats other than this one. my turbo is vf34 on alcatec ecu mapped by BR Swindon, and another mapper in warwick but I wasn't informed of the up pipe???? .bit confused.... as I don't think this cat will help on its own come mot time. so its serving no purpose in terms of gaining power im loosing prob 20 bhp? im fairly sure its oem part as the shape isn't that of a straight through type. any advice please chaps...

if it's an STI uppipe then it doesn't have a cat - if it's a WRX uppipe on a 2.0 then it has a cat.

If you don't have a cat then you can get the standard headers ported out a little and see some gains, if you do have a cat in there then you have the choice of replacing headers/uppipe together or just replacing the uppipe on it's own to a catless variety - again standard manifold can still be ported for some gains if you get it done properly.

Default up pipe still there

the car is a uk 99 classic...?? do these have the up pipe cat on ? looks as though they do.. ported header pipes I have thought about the rcm ones but as with these mods im looking at more mapping time?, either way header or up pipe. just wondered if its worth changing the up pipe for intitial low down torque.
thanks for your responces.

also is swapping out this pipe likely to cause very poor emissions result at mot ? it could be im just about getting it through, only just though after a good blast. or put it this way if it causes a fail on mot id leave it on I think, could be safer to, bob said its easy 340 ish, but as yet not been on the rollers to confirm this.and been 100 k on the engine prob best I keep away from mid 300s...

classics don't have cats in the uppipe so nothing to worry about with it the big bump is mostly heat shielding
