Default gasket sealant

Hi, The seal between the dumpvalve and top mount intercooler on my newage sti is leaking, the problem is the seal seems to be a gasket sealant. The dump valve is stuck tight to the intercooler. How do I go about removing it without damage? as I want to clean it up and put a proper gasket on there.

Thanks
in advance

Are you saying the dumpvalve is not bolted on and just stuck on with sealant? If you are running a TMIC it should have two bolts and then just pull off. You may need to persuade gently with a screwdriver.

Hi, yes it has 2 bolts, I removed them but the dump valve is still on there very tight. I tried to prize it away but it would not budge, I did not go any further as I did not want to damage it. There is definitely gasket sealant between the dump valve and the intercooler. Is there a way to soften the gasket sealant or some other way without damaging the valve or intercooler?
