Default Hawkeye Turbo specs and swap

Advice needed. what turbo is standard on a 2006 2.5 WRX and STI ?
I have a WRX as above and have been offered a rebuilt Harvey Smith td05 18g turbo from a trusted source and want to know if this is a worthwhile swap. If so what benefits would it bring? Not looking for big power but would like to break 300bhp

Many thanks

on a WRX its a TD04 same as the 2.0 wrx - the STI i think is a VF39.

The 18g would be a decent upgrade to your TD04 - you'll bust 300 no problems but the uplift in torque will be more dramatic for you than the numbers suggest. You'll need a fuel pressure regulator though to make sure you don't run out of juice in the higher revs.
