Hello,

Have you checked cam seal?

How comes you used sealent?

I've changed a few recently but no sealant used and no leaks at all. As long as the rubber seals etc are new and would only recomment genuine rocker cover gaskets as most aftermarket ones are rubbish

mine needed 3 attempts to get right. once the bolt washers have been crushed you need new ones if doing it again. the bolts are shoulder bolts as well so be careful with them as they only tighten so far and if the threads get knackered they wont tighten properly anymore.

When you say you used 'original' parts, do you mean you re-used the gaskets you removed or used genuine new ones?

Have you visually confirmed that there is still a leak, or are you basing your assumption on a burning oil smell?

Did you put lots of rags under the head to soak up any oil that drained out when removing the cam cover? If not, could be this oil that is burning off...

As said above the old oil could be burning off.

If you have not replaced the gaskets with new, then you should buy some new genuine gaskets.

The key is to make everything super clean, I use 3 bond sealant where recommended by Subaru.

I had a half moon leak once so ensure its not that, the washers I have re used before with no issues. But not on high mileage cars.

I've been through this as well.
you should really use all new parts.
it is expensive but if car is on 70k plus then will last another 70k plus.
take off remove all sealant.
clean all surfaces and job should be good.
there is a diagram from workshop manuals somewhere online that shows where to put a small smearing of sealant.it's across the half moons I think.
I also thought mine was still leaking but it was running back from under the engine where it had spilt out from when you remove the cover.
Cleaned underside of engine and also exhaust heatshield.it runs in there and sits in there especially if you have had the cam cover off loads of times.

Thanks for the replies guys,
Parts used were Genuine Parts From Subaru, which were gasket, bolt washers, plug washers, half moons, i put rags before I opened the rocker cover, but there was still oil on the exhaust manifold from the original leak, jet washed everything properly so gonna see if there's any more smoke or more leaks.

The other thing I noticed was oil around the sender unit which is under the intercooler not sure if this is the problem. Think it's oil pressure sender.
