Driveshaft Retaining Clip?

Took the subaru into shop today about some weird noises. Guy told me the R/H/R drive shaft retaining clip into the diff is missing. He told me the clip is cheap but it is hard to do. Is this correct? I don't want to pay 70 in labor if it is something I can do.
