Depends what you mean issues, as in the running of the car No.

But think you will find most on here will recommend you have a remap with any mod.

Yeah in terms of how the car runs. I'm only asking as I'd fit the cat the weekend before it gets mapped and it may well do a couple of hundred miles in the mean time. It's not something I'd try to avoid doing because doing mods like that then not mapping for them is pointless.

Just watch your boost levels. I fitted a sports cat to my old rb5 and it was boosting too high. I had a avcr fitted so was able to turn it down a bit and keep an eye on it.

Had my sports cat on for years now, increased performance no down sides, I've replaced the whole system with 3" bore and 100 cell sports cat.

It shouldn't make any difference, there's tones of Impreza's out there running decats that have not been remapped.

Of course i'm not saying remap isn't needed, but seen as your getting one done, then thats good job

Although i'm in the process of getting mine remapped.

Swapping from std downpipe to a sportscat downpipe made a big difference on my 2006 STI and I had to do a few changes to the map to prevent it over boosting. It's not so much the cat its the bellmouth design, sports cats tend to have an open bellmouth which is a lot different to std. Pic below
