Default What mods???

Hi guys, new to scooby ownership, I've just bought a 1994 1.8 fwd non turbo. The car looks the part, has had a lot done and it has the beautiful loud, in ya face roar and barble from the exhaust, you could easily mistake it for one of it's bigger brothers. Someone just told me today that the roar and barble from the exhaust is impossible to get from a non turbo car unless modifications are done to the engine. Does anyone know what modifications would need be done to do this, just so I know what I might have under the bonnet

the flat 4 sound comes from unequal headers and im pretty sure the lesser engine models would have come with equal length headers as standard

ide say so if it has the flat 4 burble... there may be other modifications but im confident its the headers that give it the sound
