Hi Guys, im new to the impreza world but loving my classic turbo 2000, already getting the itch to do things to it, one thing which slightly disappoints me is it has an STI exhaust on it, which is 2.5" tip diameter, it sounds ok, but I get really jealous when I hear other scoobies, particularly pottering around carparks with that lovely deep burble, mine just isn't that nice a noise.


My question is, will just changing the backbox for a bigger one achieve that sound or will I need a whole new system, and what size should I go for to get a nice burble but not upset the whole of my neighbourhood?

 

A decent back box will give you as much noise as you want. A nur spec S or afterburner vortex are loud boxes.

 

thanks for the advice, saw cobra sport backbox on ebay with 4" tip, but not sure if that's going to be stupid loud.

 

Yeah it will be pretty loud but thats the way a subaru is supposed to be. lol

 

lol good point Stu but don't want to be run out of town for waking the whole estate up at 7 in the morning on my way to work lol
