Default How many miles since your forged engine build ??

As been discussed in another thread i have regarding engine builds i would be very interested to know how many miles have you covered since having a forged engine built and what power its been running at ???

I think we would all expect to see 100k miles from a stock or mildly tuned stock setup but my expectations from previous experience of having engines built i have never got more than 25k miles on the clock before in need of a major overhaul. Granted my experience wasnt with subaru engines and the engine was running at close to the maximum it was rated to. Im just hoping i may get a few more from my planned 2.5cdb de-stroked motor running at around 550bhp.

So who has the forged rebuilt high output engine with the most miles on the clock ???

Biggy Wagon......2.2 stroker @ 350bhp 32k miles and still going strong
JGlanzaV............2.1 stroker @ 550bhp 25k miles ans still going strong
Bannys Mate......2.1 stroker @ 550bhp 21k miles and still going strong
WMS racing Built 2.5 scdb @ 430bhp 20k miles and still going strong
The Shreksta......2.5 scdb @ 436bhp 14k miles and still going strong
Mickey Mouse.....2.5 scdb @ 350bhp 6k miles and still going strong

Has anybody got one with over 50k miles on the clock yet ??

2.5scd... If you do it save extra and get the block closed and machined for 14mm studs.. Wish I did

It hasn't really got a rating tbh...I'd like think ALL forged pistons and rods could cope with 500bhp..

A friend has a 2.1 stroker with a rotated billet gt30, that has covered just over 21k at around 550bhp and still going strong.

Not an easy question to answer as lots of factors influence engine life, build quality, frequency and duration of use, severity of use, not least how well it is maintained.

Well I didn't want to say anything that could be deemed in the least bit controversial, but seeing as you mentioned it Banny, yes the mapper(s) too

This. And a track-only car is likely to break much sooner than one that spends its life toodling around on the road with only brief full power bursts.

I've got a hks 2.2 stroker with the billet crank, it was built in 2009 and has now done 32k miles. Its lived an easy life running 351bhp/361 ft torque @ 1.3bar on a td06. But in my opinion its the mapper, my mapper turned the boost down and made more power and torque. She's about 2 be stepped up 2 450/500 bhp, the last health check was brilliant with everything running to a 'very good' standard so the boost is going up!

I completely agree mate but the question itself is easy to answer, im just curious to see how many miles people are really getting from their rebuilt engines regardless of its use, i guess the majority of use will be using it as a daily driver first and foremost.

It's run in, had a map tweak the other week, made 330 lbs ft, but only 316 Bhp as i've got a pre turbo exhaust leak to sort out that flat lined the top end. Once the leak is sorted it'll be 340ish. This is on a TD05 16G for the moment. But something bigger will be going on at some point.
