Hi there,
Did you find out where your rattle was coming from ?
I have a strange rattle coming from the same area. I can't figure out if it's coming from the seat belt or the rear door. It only happens under certain types of acceleration or road surface. It's hard to describe really. It's as though something is loose and squeaking intermittently. I can't get it to happen at any time other than while driving.
I'm driving a 53 blob STI.
Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

Cheers for the reply.
I can only assume it's the same rattle / squeak as mine. Funny how it's coming from the same side in the same area.
I'll have a look my self and if I come up with anything, I'll let you know.

Cheers

I had a very similar rattle/squeak and it turned out to be the actual seat belt lock - over bumps it was really annoying. I just turn up the radio now lol

You must have a better radio than me !
I've uprated the door speakers and it's still SH*T !
I'm positive the noise is coming from the seat belt or rear door area. I like to listen to the car, so it becomes very irritating listening to this intermittent squeak / rattle !
I'll get to the bottom of it............sometime !

Have you looked in the common rattles thread over on NASIOC?

Right,
I had rattles coming from the rear seat area whenever I got a little judder through the clutch. Had a look on NASIOC and found a thread on there referring to interior rattles.
Turns out my drivers rear seatbelt was rattling behind the seat at the rear strut top. The seatbelt unit has a little tab that locates into a hole in the bulkhead. Mine would rattle in the hole, but only on the drivers side. Also there is hooks on the rear bulkhead that the rear seat locates into when putting the seat back in place. The upper rear of the seat has bits of wire that locate into the hooks. The wire is not an exact fit and vibration causes the wire to rattle on the hooks.
I just wrapped everything in electrical tape. It's difficult to workout how thick you need it. It's really just trial and error. I don't appear to be getting any rattles from that area now.

There is still a rattle coming from the front drivers seat belt area. I'll have a look, but if it's the same setup for the front unit as it is for the rear ( with the metal tab ) hopefully it's just a case of rapping a little tape around it and job should be a good one.

Quick update.
I took the cover for the drivers front seatbelt off and inspected for anything loose. I honestly can't see anything wrong in that area.
I'm offshore just now, so I'll need to strip the drivers seatbelt cover and rear door panel when I get home. I'll just need to drive the car with it like that till I sus it out.

Any ideas from anyone else would be appreciated !
Cheers

I've just fixed a rattle that was coming from the drivers side rear door, started after removing/refitting door card for speaker install. Turned out to be the plastic bracket that the door card fixes to with a plastic crosshead rivet (top right of door card). The bracket had worked loose and needed fixing to the door with a self tapping screwed. Worth a try.
