Default HELP HELP HELP

I've just brought my first ever subaru impreza and just brought it home went out to the shop and the battery died when I slowed down. I tried starting it but was completely dead, two blokes passing gave me a jump start it started up but sounds nakered. The battery keep dieing and there is a nocking sound coming from the drivers side off the engine. Any ideas at what this can be as I've just paid a few grand buying this car it's a 51 plate bugeye wrx. Thanks

Was the knocking sound there before the battery died? Just trying to see if they're related or not. Is the alternator belt ok and tight enough? Have you had any warning lights on the dash?

No warning lights on dash there was a slight tapping sound every now and then when letting off the accelerator. No lights on or nothing.

Is the tapping/knocking louder when the engine is cold? Also, was it doing it when you bought the car?

The battery, check that the connections are secure etc. Do you have access to a multimeter?

Did you check the belt yet?

The screeching noise is probably the belt giving up. Please go check it.

The knocking sounds like it could be bad. You really need to get the car to someone who knows what they're doing to have it checked out. Internet diagnosis rarely works.

I've tried the blokes having none of it. I've just started it and it don't sound as bad as it did earlier. Just a constant nocking sound.

Honestly mate, I couldn't tell you. I guess you could get a standard engine from one of the breakers on here for a couple of hundred quid but then you have to fit it too. Best get it checked over first before jumping to any conclusions. How long have you had it?
