Default Smell of fuel on full tank

Hi there when filling up with a full tank there's a smell of fuel from inside drivers rear wheel arch. Cannot see no leak on the floor also no smell or leak from under rear seat. This only happens when I have a full tank. Has anyone come across this before. Many thanks.

Have you had fuel pump changed?

I'm not sure as I've only owned the car for two weeks no receipt for fuel pump in paperwork.

My guess is, it's been changed and not cover/rubber seal is not seated correctly.

Is it modded? If so what and what power figure

It's pretty much a bog standard 2001 bug eye only mod is a cat back exhaust. So won't be pushing out much more than the standard bhp. I thought it could be the filler neck. Due to where the smell is coming from.

No worries I didn't know if there was a common issue with filler necks rusting. Just seems strange it's only doing it on full tank. Will take it apart at the weekend and have a look about.

very possibly the filler neck, common prob on classics and i dont expect the newer ones are to much different. possibly where the neck joins the tank. if its slightly leaky and the tanks full, fuel will slop over the leak now and again and give off a whiff.
