Default anyone had water pump break

i'm going to do the timing belt on my 2000 sti , it has 105000 on the clock , it has been sugested i should do the water pump at the same time , im curious to know if anyone has had theres break , how old was it , milage at the time etc

I've never had one break or heard of one breaking, for the sake of £70 I'd just do it.

when the belt is off, spin the pump and check for noise. check for free play. spin it and a good one will have a very slight bit of resistance.

it is only £70 but if you haven't heard of one breaking is it really necessary.

i'm interested to know if anyone has had one break but perhaps they have all been done with the timing belt

If you are now doing the belt is it worth taking a chance at 100k?

Say you fit the belt then water pump leaks in 3 weeks time, another belt and more £££
