Default 3" backbox to 2.5" centre

Guys,

I've bought a backbox with a 3" bore, my current centre section is 2.5", I want to fit the backbox to make sure I'm happy with how it sits etc before I commit to a 3" centre, but I'd also like to run it so I can get an idea as to the noise level and whether I'll need a resonated centre or not.

Is this possible to do? Will the flanges even line up?

If you just want to fire it on to hear it, patch it up with exhaust cement for all of 5 mins whilst you rev it. What back box did you go for?

OK guys thanks, it's a Miltek meant for a hawkeye, I've had Miltek's before and they've never been loud, but I'm not sure on this one given the size of the backbox (will stick a pic up later), the plan is to run it with a full 3" sportscat and centre, but I will be running it on a 3" decat tapering to 2.5 with a 3" centre section (with Grimmspeed adapter) up until some time next year when I get the sports cat.

I think I might just take a punt on a 3" non resonated centre.

I had a milltek full 3" turbo back fitted to my STI, I didn't think it was that loud and didn't really like it. Can link you a video if you like?
