Default Engine knock

Hey, looking for some help guys I've got a 2003 blobeye wrx, but I've got the dreaded knock from below looking for some advice on what to do here,
Was thinking bout either getting a short block and doin the usual using my topend etc but run the risk of same happening again or gettin a new crankshaft, shells etc and building a new bottom end or sourcing a whole engine.
I'm not really wantin to take the risk of shelling out £1700 on a ebay engine with 1 month warranty tbh so any help with this matter would be great thanks, and if anyone knows of costs and suppliers of a crank and parts would be much appreciated,
Cheers guys

Cams don't have shells, if the bottom end has gone it'll fill the oil with ****e which will score up the cam journals.

I stripped a V8 STi lump with blown big ends a while ago and the cams were scrap.

Also I my EJ20 cracked its ringlands. I've just replaced the short block with a brand new WMS built 2.1 stroker fully forged lump. I could have bought a 2nd hand STi short block or WRX block but didn't fancy the risk.

If you can afford it I would just forge it and be done with it.

Ok, thing is until its apart you're not going to know how much damage has been done.

You need to get the engine out and stripped down to see what you're dealing with to be honest, then go from there.

Do the best you can afford, spend cheap, spend twice! I can supply a 2.1 stroker kit for £1250, new crank, Steel rods, acl race bearings and Mahle 4032 stroker pistons.
Or I'll supply it built for £2000 exchange, inc an 11mm oil pump.
