Default R sport Hawkeye vs GX Blob eye

Hi guys,

I'm new here so sorry if i've posted in the wrong place!

I'm looking at getting an R sport Hawkeye, but was wondering what was different between this and the GX Blob eye? There is about a 40bhp power difference, so i was wondering what they did to give it the extra power?

Also, 70k-90k mileage on an R sport, is that a lot or?

P.s: to save time, I'm 18 and just about to get my 1st NCB so please don't shout at me to buy a WRX

thanks for the help
Kieran

Get insurance quotes on both, mileage isn't everything, what lives have the car's in question lead...

For me I'd want a blob (not a bug), a blue one. Hawks look like SEAT's to me. It's up to you.

Insurance on a GX is cheaper, however it's marginal so for the price difference i'd rather the 165bhp.

It's mainly to understand what gives the hawkeye the extra 40bhp over the old GX. what did Subaru change?

That's if the quoted figures are accurate, drive both if you can. Not many on here will even recognise N/A scoobs so knowing the technical improvements from GX to R sport is not likely to be answered easily.

If insurance is cheaper that's probably better I agree, but if it isnt cheaper then get the n/a scoob and don't be in such a hurry.

I'd rather he makes it to 21 (and without our premiums rising)

Just brought a 2007 R Sport as my third car... Nowhere near the same performance as my turbo versions but that's to be expected. It is still fun. But I certainly would not want it with 40bhp less! It feels slow as it is! No idea how they got more power but this gives a lot of info:

Mine has 92000 on the clock and drives well.

I would definitely go for the hawk as its a much more modern feeling and looking car. The R has projector headlights which are awesome at night.

Thanks for all the answers guys.
N/A is my only option for a scoob
Hot hatches isn't something i like. superminis e.g the fiesta ST are nice but im 6ft 4" and so my seat is in the back of the car when i drive. plus insurance for it is more than the scoob (and the scoob looks nicer too).
I'm not in a huge hurry, but i've been looking for months now and i'm getting fed up of my car.
I know n/a scoobs don't seem appealing to most and aren't "that" quick, but i drive a 1.1 206 so anything is going to be quicker haha!
I'd rather not wait until i'm 21, thanks anyway. And just because i'm 18 doesn't mean i drive like an idiot, racing and messing about in car parks. I have to work for every penny i have, so there is no reason i would want to put all my money into a ditch/car or around a tree/post etc.
Cheers FMJ, great info

again, thanks for the help
