I have a Subaru forester 2000 I had a fuel pump problem which is now sorted it drives nice until tonight on the way home from a journey and its like a miss fire I reversed back back up the drive way and the missus said she could smell raw fuel smell coming from the back box.if the car is stood still on idle every now and again you can see the engine stutter and here what sounds like a miss fire sound.The forester is decatted and ive fitted new plugs about a month ago set at factory setting of 0.8 .Ive unplugged the maf and it cut out straight away so its not that.I get a strong spark from the coil pack and the stutter or miss fire noise sounds like its coming from the rocker cover nr the front of the engine.May be its hiding the problem from some where or its lnk to some thing else.When you drive it flat out it drives mint just has a miss fire on idle at the traffic lights which soon goes when you drive away and there is no eml on dash either
