Default WRX center diff

Hi, Can anyone tell me if it is normal for a bugeye center diff to clock on full lock. It only does it when the gearbox is warm?

Thanks
Mike.

Hi Mike

I've got a classic, not a bugeye so don't know if it's the same but I had a prob with my diff at the start of the year.

This thread I found here seemed to accurately describe my problem - don't know if it's the same as yours but might be helpful.

I've since replaced my diff with a second hand one & it runs good as new.

Is there any way of testing the centre diff with it out the car?
I broke second gear in my bugeye gearbox and stripped it all down so i have both front and centre diffs. Was gonna bang em on ebay but never get round to it lol.

What sort of money do they go for? Not much i guess?

Afraid I don't really know about testing it. Mine only failed once it got warm. Hard to check that with it out of the box. The bit that fails is also a sealed unit so you can't pop it open to check. A gearbox specialist might know different though.

I bought a 2nd hand gearbox & took the diff out of it - paid £80 for the whole box. So guess you'd prob get somewhere around £50 for a diff?
