Default Turbo exhaust housing - what does the colour means?

So we've all heard of 'reading' your plugs to tell you how the engine running, I was wondering what a bright red exhaust turbine wheel and wastegate flap means:



I was expecting to see a nice greyish colour. Its not rust as it was straight off the car (hadn't been sitting) and it doesn't rub off (its well and truly ingrained). What this telling me? running rich, lean, ??

As in heat changes the colour of metals.... This is the same colour all the turbos I have taken apart have been. I wouldn't read much into it. It's not at the point of combustion like plugs.

My plugs are always so bright orange that they look like they are red hot. But it's just the additives in the fuel.

The 'tango' effect is normally due to Octane Booster being used.
