Default exhaust qury. (Hawk wrx)

Hi all,

I already have a Prodrive back box and a straight through centre pipe on my hawk, I am curious would I see much benefit in replacing the pipe after the down pipe?

http://www.scoobyworld.co.uk/catalog...oducts_id=1116

Also will this cause an engine management light or have any issues come MOT time?

thanks,

doing some googling found the 2nd cat pipe is longer on Hawks in comparison to other newage.
This pipe will fit the bill http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/IMPREZA-2-...item35a95f82a0

I just want to be sure before I spend my money on it.

thanks,

I'm sure someone with more knowledge than myself will be alone shortly but I'm under the impression that the standard downpipe is shorter to make up for this difference.

I have a milltek downpipe on my hawk (intended for a hawk) and a nurspec r that came off a blob and it all fits up fine, so cat back they are the same.

Hope that helps

Tom

Cheers Tom. Already found centre pipe is same on all new age as have one fitted so that's all cool. If I am honest I am just looking for a cheap method of having a better flowing exhaust. I assume the cat on the hawk is fairly good as standard as I have read WRX and STi have same cat!?
Not keen on spending £200-£300+ on a sports cat tbh.

Thanks,

All, I emailed Hayward and Scott to get some info on it.
They replied this morning.

Hi

It won't bring on the engine management light as the 2nd sensor is
before the 2nd cat so it won't register that you had removed it , and
the main cat in the down pipe is generally big enough to pass a
emmisions test on it's own .

Hope that helps

Regards

Ian Reeve

Looks like this might be a go.
thanks,
Rob

As above, it SHOULD pass an MOT with just the cat in the 1st downpipe section.

Have you thought about the ECU? If you make the exhaust flow better then generally speaking you should always have the ECU re-mapped to make the most of it and protect your engine. If your exhaust is flowing better then your ECU should be able to fuel correct to a certain extent, but if it were me I'd put an uprated panel filter in the box for the sake of £35 and have it re-mapped (£350-£600 depending on remap choice). Could see close to 300bhp from the TD04 then!

Good luck!

Thanks for info but way ahead of you. I do my own mapping with a Tactrix cable and lots of help from the mapping forums. Always doing runs for MAF calibration after each 'upgrade' so fairly sure the engine is running/fueling correctly. At present I am not too worried about making loads of bhp I just want my monies worth from the £485 road tax lol.

Current engine mods are, Pro-R panel filter, silicone intercooler pipes, prodrive back box and straight through center pipe.
New fuel filter arrived on Saturday (damn in-tank filter on hawks) and just waiting for my HRC fuel pump to arrive so can do that next weekend.

Will probably order the pipe this week so can do it at same time as fuel pump/filter.

Reply is much appreciated though.

Am I correct in thinking that pipe replaces the mid pipe and rear exhaust pipe as detailed in this diagram ?

Cheers

Where can I get a full length single piece that replaces the 2nd CAT preferably resonated.

Cheers

Got my sports cat downpipe & centre section from cobra

http://www.cobrasport.com/index.php/...wrx-sti-3.html

Give them a ring, very helpful indeed.

Cheers all, Will get one on order soon I think.
My only remaining concern is will it increase the exhaust noise dramatically? I intend to stay with the Prodrive back box so I assume that will keep the volume down a little?

thanks,

I went for the resonated centre section with only 1 sports cat in downpipe. Not loud at all and fine on a cruise.

Few sound clips on the cobra website.
