Hi Guys,

This is my first ever post and hope this is the correct section. Apologies ifit isnt

I was wondering if you guys could help...

I have an impreza Turbo 2.0 Turbo AWD on a 99 reg...

Car overall runs sweet as intended but only issue is when putting the footdown and taking it to the high rev range it starts to leak oil and starts todrip when parked up..

It drips onto the exhaust and starts to burn/smoke and smells.

This does not effect the performance of the car it just leaks when driving thecar "Economically" it doesn’t drip and remains dry..

I’m a bit concerned and would like a suggestion hint or tips if anyoneknows??

I had a similar issue, at first I thought it was the rocker cover seals. But on closer inspection its actually a left hand cam seal and crank seal. Leaks into the cover that lies over the timing belt and drips onto the exhaust, its only very slight. But it stinks!

Likewise it only really drips badly when pushing on so its being driven steadily till its fixed, My cambelt/water pump is due also so i'm going to replace the seals and do the belt/pump all in one. I'm still driving it around though whilst im saving the money to get the job done, just keeping a close eye on things

Hi Sunny1989, Thanks for your reply...Hi Sunny1989, I suspected the same thing to be honest..

It sounds just like it when its parked up it drips from the bottom of the oil sump it also goes down the rear of the car by the wind.

Any ideas of costs involved with this?

I thought it was my sump but as you say it was airflow moving it down the chassis. Check the timing belt cover for leaks. If it's leaking within it's most likely cam seals/crank seals I'd say.

The seals themselves are fairly cheap, I'd only buy genuine parts too. But labour my be a bit to remove all the necessary parts to get to the crank/cam seal.

Couple of hundred sterling possibly? I'm not too sure tbh, best email a specialist to see how much they quote for crank/cam seal replacement.

Mine comes to to about 900euros including water pump, cambelt, cam seal, tensioner etc.
