Rust!!
Hi, I bought my 2nd blobeye wagon a few months ago and it was in the garage getting new discs and pads, anyway the whole underside of the car is riddled with "surface rust". Now the car came from an island in the north of Scotland (surrounded by sea water)! Is it worth keeping?!?? It's a 2005 WRX with PPP and only 60k with full dealer history.

My 07 plate Spec D came from a guy in Falkirk.
I think the only thing you can do or get done is spend time brushing off what you can with wire brushes etc.
Try then a rust treatment like Bilt Hamber Hydrate 80, then Hammerite everything.
I've never done mine, but the day / weeks will come when I do!
Salt water kills, mine is bad from the salt on the roads up there 3 months of the year.
Nasty stuff.

The car passed it's mot without any issues. The mot'r said it's not as good underneath as the last one. So you recon wait for some drier weather and get brushing?! Mechanically the car is mint and the bodywork is good and it's got full leather int and elec sunroof.

MY 2004 had a fair bit of surface rust underneath. I was lucky enough to find a local friendly tire fitter who also has a car lift. So just lifted it up to head height and got the wire brush and the paint brush out. Took me about 3 hrs.
The one thing that surprised me was my mechanic took off the underneath engine guard (doing a full service) a couple of days ago and said there were holes in the front subframe...so next service he's going to sort it out for me. I'm not worrying. I've had 1950's, 1970's cars before and had floor pans replaced!
