it does it in all gears this is first and third

Get under the car and have a look at the linkage. Maybe the small spring has broken or heavily worn.
New ones are available from import car parts for £3.

Also, for roughly £60 Alyn at AS performance can supply you a complete gear linkage bush kit that will tighten the whole thing up.
