Purchased a 2002 WRX STI with a 3" Milltek De-cat down pipe with a blitz Nur Spec R uprated to full 3".

It in unbelivable loud. so loud that after driving for a few hours home my ears were ringing and i could hear people right. then to get pulled over by the police to be told it needs to be changed and is the worst they've seen to date.

Any advice on a full exhaust system that isn't too loud but has a nice note to it.

or a system that is reasonably quiet at low rpm then comes to life higher up?

I have an 04, mine sounds good but not too loud

 

You could keep nur spec system and get a downpipe with cat,that would reduce volume a fare bit.,prodrive sports cat Is a good one as fitted to Ppp.

Just looking and I'm pretty sure mine is 2.5inch, scorpion with hks decat downpipe.

 

As you already have the down pipe why not add the miltek exhaust, I have one on mine (PPP down pipe cat) and it sounds great without being anywhere near as loud as others.
